Irvine, California - Today, the Orange County Fire Authority unveiled the World's Largest Helitanker, a fire fighting tool capable of deploying 3,000 gallons of water and retardant at a time.
The helitanker, being used in a cooperative agreement between the Orange County Fire Authority and Coulson Aviation, will be operated out of the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos, with generous support from the Southern California Edison Company.
Earlier today, Orange County Fire Authority Board Members including Irvine Councilmember Anthony Kuo, attended a press conference with local leaders to demonstrate the Very Large Helitanker's capabilities. Also in attendance were OCFA Board Chair Shelley Hasselbrink of Los Alamitos, Director Beth Swift of Buena Park, Director Juan Villegas of Santa Ana, Director John O'Neill of Garden Grove, and Director Gene Hernandez of Yorba Linda.
